Brian Brivati

Dr Brivati had a 20-year academic career at the Institute of Contemporary British History and Kingston University and has published 14 written or edited books, including biographies of Hugh Gaitskell (which received ten book of the year nominations on publication) and Lord Goodman. He edited Michael Foot on Nye Bevan and Lord Bullock on Ernest Bevin. His biographical essays include Gordon Brown, Doughnuts, Tony Blair, Michael Foot, Tony Benn and the Foxglove.

His articles have appeared in the Guardian, Times, Financial Times, Independent on Sunday, Daily Telegraph, Observer, Times Higher Education, New Statesman, Fabian Review, The Political Quarterly, History Today, Georgian Times, The Ukrainian Magazine and Parliamentary Brief and others. Frequent broadcast media appearances include, BBC Newsnight, BBC News 24, BBC Breakfast News, Channel Four News, Daily Politics, Radio 4 Westminster Hour and other UK news programmes and news/current affairs channels in Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine and Russia. Member of the Foreign Policy Centre/Channel Four Iraq commission. He is Visiting Professor in Life Writing and Human Rights at Kingston University.
